Update on domain + Workrise talent pool + Speaker Series recordings
A bunch of random updates in this email, to keep you updated on everything that's happened / happening at Ops Hacks.
Let's get into it.
Update #1: The opshacks.com domain
If you were with us 2 weeks ago, you would already know that I'd lost the opshacks.com domain and had to move everything over to opshacks.co, the new domain.
Well, I heard back from Sav.com, the domain registrar, this week:
Hey, my site was taken down and the domain taken away for 15 days without any notice or explanation, but all good. I was just relieved to have the domain back.
I'm still not sure how sav.com were able to return the domain to my account, because they had previously said:
But I wasn't going to dwell on it.
So now I'm in the process of transferring the domain away from sav.com to a more trustworthy registrar. And I'll be holding my breath until that transfer is complete, but hopefully there won't be any more surprises in this saga.
I've already moved all of my email and website over to the .co domain though, so I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the .com domain.
For the time being, please use the opshacks.co site and email me at joe@opshacks.co.
Update #2: Workrise talent looking for opportunities
You may have read in the news that Workrise had a big layoff this week.
They have created a list of folks looking for new opportunities (see link below). Given the ongoing hiring crunch and the caliber of some of the folks in this list - the list is worth taking a look if your company is hiring, and sharing with others if not.
Update #3: Unlocking Ops Superpowers Using Airtable at Clutch
Abhi, another founding member of Ops Hacks, put on an awesome crash course and walkthrough of how Clutch uses Airtable to serve as both its single source of truth and a cross-functional ops workflow management tool.
What stood out to me the most in the session was how intricate, yet scalable, the system was.
I've been a big fan of Airtable, but I've been using it mostly on my own to build out a customized CRM for Ops Hacks. Now, after seeing the use case at Clutch, a 300+ person company, I am even more convinced that every early stage operator should learn how to use Airtable.
If you missed this session, I'd recommend going through the recording and the demo database. Here are the materials / links from the session:
Airtable Base - Please make a copy of the base (button on the top right) into your own workspace and can edit the base
Update #4: Clay Product Demo
I realized that I never shared the recording from the product demo session we held last month with Kareem, CEO of Clay.
If you work with any data involving people and companies - e.g. recruiting, marketing, sales - I'd give the recording a watch. The Clay product feels like magic as it populates and enriches data you put into it.
Make sure to check out the recording and Clay.
Here's what one community member had to say about Clay after attending the session:
